GENERAL FORESTRY
The Indiana forest products industry is the sixth largest manufacturing industry in the state, supporting 70,000 jobs — 44,000 in primary and secondary manufacturing and 26,000 in ancillary sectors. Forest-based manufacturing provides an annual economic impact of more than $10 billion. It ranks first nationwide in the production of wood office furniture, wood kitchen cabinets, and hardwood veneer, along with several other products. As small family-owned businesses, wood products companies average less than 50 employees and play an important role in rural communities. - INDNR
