The Monroe County SWCD is proud partners with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), Purdue Cooperative Extension, the City of Bloomington, and other local, state, and federal agencies.
We are part of the Indiana Association of SWCDs (IASWCD) along with 91 other active conservation districts of Indiana. These partnerships enable us to address critical issues of natural resource management and are a dynamic component of Indiana’s Conservation Partnership (ICP).
The ICP Conservation Cropping Systems Initiative (CCSI) focuses on no-till farming and cover crop and nutrient management. The CCSI promotes a systematic approach to production agriculture. Specialists encourage the adoption of long-term continuous no-till practices along with cover cropping, integrative nutrient and pest management, precision farming technology, and the implementation of conservation buffers.
